Getting set up
Your tenant admin switches the Turbo Governance System on in the Turbo Client Systems Portal, and you finish setup on one Get started page that shows what is done and what is left.
What your tenant admin does first
Your tenant admin does this part in the Turbo Client Systems Portal, not in the Turbo Governance System. The Turbo Governance System reads these settings and changes none of them.
- A Microsoft 365 administrator approves the Turbo Governance System once for your organization. Until then, nobody in your organization can use it.
- Your tenant admin sets up the Portal for your organization and switches the Turbo Governance System on.
- They choose which Microsoft Entra groups can use the Turbo Governance System.
- They connect the SharePoint site where your records and evidence files are kept.
- They choose the standards in scope, and enter your organization's name in the Brand name setting. The name appears in the header, on generated documents and in exports.
If something is missing when you sign in
If the Portal is not set up, the Turbo Governance System is not switched on, or you are not in one of its groups, the Turbo Governance System shows a screen that says which and links to the Portal. You cannot fix these from inside the Turbo Governance System.
If no standard is in scope, the pages built on your standards show "No standards in scope" and link to the Portal.
What you do
- Sign in to the Turbo Governance System with your Microsoft work account. It signs in through your organization's Microsoft Entra ID and works with your own permissions.
- Open Get started. Its Setup list has five rows: Standards, Company name, Evidence source, Roles & responsibilities and Training. Each row reads Complete or To do, measured from what is on record. No row can be ticked by hand.
- Standards, Company name and Evidence source are set in the Portal, so each of those rows links there.
- Until a company name is on record, the Turbo Governance System keeps everyone on Get started, because every generated document uses it. Once it is on record, opening Get started records that setup is done and opens the rest of the app.
- Under Roles & responsibilities, on the same page, name a principal for each role your standards require. You can also add stewards and viewers. The Roles row has no status until a standard is in scope, because the standards decide which roles are required.
- If one person is principal of two roles that are usually kept separate, the role shows a Segregation of duties badge. The badge is advice. It does not block the save.
- People you name may also need to be added to your SharePoint site. Your tenant admin does that in the Portal.
How you know setup is done
Every row in the Setup list reads Complete.
Training stays on the list because it recurs. It reads To do while anyone who holds a role still owes training, and it links to the Training page. Until roles are assigned it says to assign roles first, because training is owed by the people who hold them.
The Dashboard shows how many Setup rows are complete and links to Get started.
What it does not do
- It does not set up your workspace. The SharePoint site, its lists and who can sign in are set up by your tenant admin in the Portal.
- It does not change your standards, your brand name or your SharePoint site. It reads them from the Portal.
- It cannot list everyone who can sign in. It reads only your own access.
